The town of Owego says it will start construction on a new bridge after the current construction project is finished. APALACHIN (WBNG) — Beginning Aug. 24, a central section on Long Creek Road, between Pennsylvania Avenue and Montrose in Apalachin will be closed for two to three weeks in Apalachin. Construction on the new bridge will then begin in mid-September and the road will not be closed during that time. The town says the current construction project will end before the start of school on Sept. 14. The town of Owego says it is replacing an undersized culvert to help with water flow. The road experienced major flooding on Oct. 31, 2019. As a result, a temporary bridge was put in place.
