Renovation and extension of a stately row house in Overveen, The Netherlands. The house is located in a dune area and therefore the ground level is higher at the front than at the rear.Save this picture!© Mirko MerchioriThe inside of the house was already taken care of in the 70s and stripped of all period features. The ground floor serves as a living area and was a large narrow space. A spiral staircase with a balustrade made of marine  rope led to the basement that consisted of a series of small rooms including a small kitchen. The first and second floors consist of bedrooms and a family bathroom.Save this picture!© Mirko MerchioriThe basement has now been extended so that the existing kitchen has become larger and has now become a real family kitchen with an open view of the back garden. A floating veranda connected to the family kitchen strengthens this relationship. On the floating veranda you can sit with a cup of coffee and dangle your legs.Save this picture!© Mirko MerchioriThe open plan living room is too large for its purpose due to the new kitchen. The basement has a low ceiling and is dark, so creating an open connection between the kitchen and the living room was a logical step to take. The desire to have a roof terrace on the extension led to a connection between the floor of the living room and the roof of the extension. To open up this area and make as light and airy as possible, everything between kitchen and living room is made of glass . The glass is supported by large Douglas beams that are also continued into the extension.Save this picture!Section AThe staircase that runs along a continuous wall between the basement, the living room and the bedrooms creates a visually connecting element between the different spaces and also ensures that the long living room is broken up in a front and back.Save this picture!© Mirko MerchioriThe rest of the basement is open, with underfloor heating and now functions as a play area for the children or as guest room.Save this picture!© Mirko MerchioriProject gallerySee allShow lessPaulinum University Leipzig / Erick van EgeraatSelected ProjectsFarvardin House / HAMAAN StudioSelected Projects Share Photographs:  Mirko Merchiori Manufacturers Brands with products used in this architecture project Year:  Lead Architects: 2017 CopyHouses•Overveen, The Netherlands Area:  269 m² Year Completion year of this architecture project Architects: Bloot Architecture Area Area of this architecture project The Netherlands House Overveen / Bloot Architecture ArchDaily Save this picture!© Mirko Merchiori+ 19 Share Houses Tjeerd Bloothoofd Constructor: House Overveen / Bloot ArchitectureSave this projectSaveHouse Overveen / Bloot Architecture Photographs “COPY” ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/885033/house-overveen-bloot-architecture Clipboard CopyAbout this officeBloot ArchitectureOfficeFollowProductsWoodGlass#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesOverveenThe NetherlandsPublished on December 09, 2017Cite: “House Overveen / Bloot Architecture” 09 Dec 2017. Black Cats eye midfielder Downing

first_img Press Association Sunderland are hoping to push home their interest in West Ham midfielder Stewart Downing as head coach Dick Advocaat awaits a transfer breakthrough. He began his career at home-town club Middlesbrough and had a loan spell at the Stadium of Light in 2003 before making a £12million switch to Aston Villa in July 2009 in the wake of Boro’s relegation from the Barclays Premier League. Downing was on the move again two summers later as Liverpool invested £20million in his services, although ultimately he did not fit into manager Brendan Rodgers’ plans and was sold to West Ham during the summer of 2013. He has rebuilt his reputation under Sam Allardyce at the Boleyn Stadium, but the Black Cats are hoping they can tempt him back home as they attempt to bolster a squad which has had to produce late pushes in each of the last two seasons to avoid relegation. Advocaat and sporting director Lee Congerton have been working hard behind the scenes to land the men they want, and they have shown no lack of ambition. Despite reports to the contrary, the Dutchman is understood to have tested the water with PSV Eindhoven over their Holland midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum, but the package on offer was not acceptable to them. center_img Press Association Sport understands the Black Cats are looking to take advantage of new Hammers boss Slaven Bilic’s squad re-shaping programme to persuade the 30-year-old England midfielder to return to his native north-east. Downing made 43 appearances for the London club last season, but has been linked with a move away from Upton Park this summer. last_img read more
